Sharing Update: Getting Noticed

This was originally published on August 7, 2015… Recently it seems to be a huge topic on Poshmark. I feel like there have been no major changes in the way share have been displayed… what do YOU think?

We all want to be noticed.

All of us, from time to time, have that one listing that we REALLY want people to see. Sometimes it’s that hot new dress, a Party Co-Hosting Alert, or a Major Sale Announcement. For me, I get really excited when I post a new blog entry and want to share it with everyone.

For a long time now, it has been widely believed that if you share the same listing over and over, you will “flood” your followers news feed and they will have to take notice. It shouldn’t annoy anyone because most Poshers follow thousands of people and may only see your ten rapid fire shares once or twice. Have you heard of this theory?

I was able to test this the other morning…

I typically am up and Poshing around 5am in the mornings… yes, there are a few of us! (Don’t assume that it’s a waste because I have made a few sales during these early bird hours!)

To test this theory, I started to share this listing multiple times. I was one of only a handful of people I follow that was actively sharing so I could really see ALL the activity on my news feed.

This is what happened the first time I shared it:

IMG_0316See that it is the first one on my feed? Right before the “hair product.”

I immediately shared again:

IMG_0317Now you can see that it is no longer in front of the “hair product” but now some mascara and a cute sweater are between the listings… sharing again….

IMG_0318Same thing happened… it moved to the first place but did not show up multiple times….

The 4th share determined the pattern. If you share the same listing multiple times- you will not “flood” a feed, but rather continually move the listing to the front and center of your followers feed. It will disappear and reappear with each new share. Yes, it may make it more noticeable especially if they are just logging on or refreshing their feed because it moved to the top.

This is really changing how I share now! I would normally “rapid fire” share the sale/party/other announcement listings  for my PFF’s. Now I will still be sharing multiple times but throughout the day with time in between.

The only way that I can conclude to successfully flood a feed would be to have several Poshers sharing the same listing at the same time. If someone follows all (or some) of the sharers- they would see the listing multiple times.

Again, I feel that I should add the disclaimer that these Poshmark advice posts are just my personal opinions and have no real facts or insider infomation backing them up. These are my observations and you can do with them whatever you would like 🙂

  1. This demo is great. It always good to read and see other strategies. One advantage of the back to back is that it keeps at top and half of the posh world don’t scroll past 3 to 4 scrolls so this could be effective just as the other flood feed sharing…. A couple of PFfs and I encourage to share many different ways because the ultimate goal is sharing and everyone puts there own flare to it. Thanks again for this and I look forward to reading more…

  2. In case I never told you before, thank you for your blogs 😉 One of my share group hosts got tagged as a robot because she uses her laptop. She didn’t know what was going on. I was able to tell her about it and referred her to your blog. And thankfully Posh fixed it for her. So, THANK YOU!! And Happy Hump Day!

  3. Exactly this has been the results of what blasting is all about. It’s a method coupled with many other ones that I have tried and tested with my own demos as well. I thank you for bringing this back to the surface. Its kind of hard telling people in 500 characters or less. So I just assist with visuals. I can’t believe we was talking about this in 2015 and watching history repeati itself is so real. Love the blog and I wish to see more. Until next time.
