Although I have mentioned Closet Clear Out in many posts when detailing certain strategies, I realize that I have never talked about the basics of the promotion. So for those of you who are new- or if you just like reading about things- here is my opinion about Closet Clear Out… what it is, and how I personally use it.
What is Closet Clear Out on Poshmark?
Closet clear out is a promotional set amount of days where anything you “mark down” on Poshmark will receive discounted shipping. That’s the basics of the program. BUT, of course there are little terms and conditions in the fine print!
Poshmark always announces it first with a dark burgundy banner at the top of your newsfeed. I do not have a screen shot of an actual CCO announcement but there is always an informative banner and this is where it’s located:
It’s 5:30 am on the East Coast. I am awake and sharing my Poshmark Closet. Some might say sharing your Poshmark closet this early is a waste of time because the majority of Poshmark users are not awake let alone shopping their feed (it’s 2:30 on the West Coast!!). But this is all part of my strategy which I will explain in just a few. This also ties in to one of the MOST asked questions…

If you have never been asked this before, you probably have been the one asking. I have been on both sides.
I would love to do research and figure out which gives you the best ROI (return on investment) but there are simply too many factors involved. Factors such as:
- Amount of followers of person sharing
- Time of day/ Time zone
- Appeal of listings (photo quality, item desirability)
… and about a million other little factors, including the elusive algorithm.
I firmly believe that sharing your Poshmark closet and sharing others both hold significant importance.
An important characteristic of a successful business owner is the ability to change and adapt with the markets trends. One part of that is actually being able to recognize when something isn’t working. This can lead to a change of plans and altering your strategy.
This applies to online sellers, regardless of your preferred selling platform. You have to be cognizant of the changes and know how to make them work to your advantage. A growing company like Poshmark is an example of a company that is constantly evolving and changing. Whatever your winning strategy was last year probably isn’t cutting it this year.
Case in point, I know tons of Poshmark sellers who no longer do aggressive markdowns during “Closet Clear Out” as perhaps they once did. Why? Well, while some sellers are still finding success with marking down items because buyers are motivated to purchase with discounted shipping… personally, I am not finding it beneficial for my closet.
I feel like we are at the point in our relationship where I can tell you how I really feel, right?
As you are fully aware, I obsess over strategies and what works/what doesn’t.
I have narrowed it down to the top things that I find MOST effective for my closet. If we were sitting at Starbucks hashing out Poshmark strategy (and I confessed actions that I make a Poshmark priority), this is exactly what I would tell you.
And in case you are wondering what my Starbucks order would be, I order a grande in a venti cup of Pike Place coffee. Then I dump half n half creamer in. No sugar.
Now that we have our coffee and are sitting next to the guy with headphones and his laptop…

Let me describe a typical morning in my life.
I wake up around 4am and immediate take out the dog, starting the coffee pot on the way out.
