Celebrating Two Years of the Gray Asparagus

Two Years of the Gray Asparagus

It’s the Gray Asparagus’s Two Year Anniversary!

It’s been TWO YEARS?

I cannot believe that TWO YEARS have passed since launching The Gray Asparagus.

Let’s back up…

I started keeping a diary at the age of seven. It held the basic secrets of a seven-year old… who I thought was cute and who my current best friend was. One day I found out that my brother had read my entire diary! In a panic, I took out an eraser and erased the contents… I erased all the words I had written (in pencil, of course) as if this too could erase the words from my brother’s memory. It didn’t, but life went on.

Blogging has always intrigued me and, quite frankly, scared me. Just like my journal being read, blogging reveals your otherwise private thoughts and feelings. No matter what subject, I am letting others read my thoughts and ultimately I am opening myself up to criticism from people other than my brother. That in itself can be scary.

But in doing so you also make yourself available to meet wonderful people… and that can be pretty amazing.

When I wrote the first post in February of 2015, I didn’t have a plan for The Gray Asparagus. I entered the blogging world quite blindly. I typed my thoughts out of frustration and didn’t even know if I would allow anyone to read them. I asked about 3 friends to review a few articles before making my decision and they all gave a resounding “Do it!”

The Gray Asparagus has become so much more to me now.

It is my online journal. I write about what I am going through…

Whether I am trying to achieve a personal goal or sometimes I just unload all my current thoughts about a new strategy I want to try with online selling.

I never know if anyone will feel the same.

But if type it all out- it challenges me to come up with a solution- it helps me work out my situation and see that there is a way it can work out. If someone says “Me too!” it makes it all worthwhile. Logging in and writing new posts and reading your comments is one of my favorite parts of the day.

I hope the Gray Asparagus is a place where people who may be looking for a different spin on the basics, ones who constantly question “why”, and the sellers who are frustrated and just need a fresh view on their situation, can all come and find that.

In the Past Two Years…

Over the past 2 years we have discussed a lot of subjects.

What it means to be a Crazy Cat Lady.

We have debated ad nauseam different sharing tactics.

Sharing Controversy

And went through big changes – like the addition of men’s and kids and so many other new features on Poshmark.

Everyone wants to know more about the Suggested User Program.

Of course we all want to be a SUCCESS

Also, I have given my honest thoughts about Host Picks and provided a play-by play when Hosting Postmark Parties based on my personal experience.

But what’s My Absolute Favorite Part?

My favorite part about the past 2 years has been YOU.

I read every question and every comment (here and on Poshmark) and believe me when I say that I am so very grateful for every like and every share.

I am so very thankful that there is a really awesome group of readers who are supportive and quick to share their experiences too.

Oh, and speaking of Hosting Poshmark Parties…

I wish I could say that Poshmark was celebrating my blog anniversary too… but it’s PURELY coincidence that…

I am HOSTING A POSHMARK PARTY on FEBRUARY 6th!

(7pm PST/10pm EST)

To help me Celebrate Two Year of the Gray Asparagus, I ask that you:

(if you are not on Instagram, no problem. You can comment with your closet name below and subscribe for updates!)

I want to check out all of your closets for potential Host Picks!

While I can’t guarantee a Host Pick and this isn’t a contest (all closets must be compliant Posh rules and must be a listing that fits the theme and deemed HP worthy!) I want to have all your closet names easily accessible to start the search in a couple of weeks.

Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for coming along on this ride with me for the past 2 years!

XOXO

  1. Thanks for putting yourself out there Elle – it has been a tremendous resource for me, and I have read every single post! I think?! Congrats on hosting, and keep ’em coming 🙂

  2. Congrats Elle on your two year anni! I think I’ve had a blog “in the works” for two years so here’s hoping I can get motivated to put fingers to keyboard. You’re a hoot and I always love to read what you write. Thank YOU for taking the time to share your life and your life tips with us. You da bomb girl! (Even if you like cats and I like glitter, hey opposites attract right?) Here’s hoping we actually get to connect in person and some Posh event down the road.

    xoxo

  3. I just want to say, you are amazing! I have really enjoyed following you; it’s always great advice or something I need to hear. After your last new year post, I went to your sales tracking post, took the pieces I can apply to my closet and marched over to the target $ zone and purchased my planners. I too am an old school gal who loves writing things down and this was a great tip! Again, thank you for your golden words of wisdom and keep on blogging! ❤️

  4. Wow two years! That’s crazy! My posh-versary is Jan 15th…also two years! It has been so fun watching your blog and closet grow! And congrats on hosting!! How exciting! -Joy (@breezymoments)

  5. Hi Elle, I love your blog. I commented a few days on PM about keeping stats on a spreadsheet. Anyway, I just recently found your blog as I am fairly new to Poshing, but I have read through your archives. It’s great to see how this has grown. It is scary to put yourself out there, especially with the usual anonymity of the Internet. I want to thank you for doing so. Really. It’s a great service. I’m not on IG, so I commented here. XOXO, Andi (lunasolei)

  6. Congrats to you! I was wondering how long you have been active on Posh?
    Love reading your posts. ❤️

  7. Congrats on your awesome milestone, Elle! I’ve recently become an avid reader of your blog/IG and always come back daily for inspiration and motivation. I love how you’re so REAL and give truly honest and helpful advice. May your blog continue to reach more readers and wishing you many more anniversaries 🙂 Awaiting your next blog post <3, Sarah (@lightupthenight)

  8. Love every bit of this post! Even though I’m not so involved in improving my Poshmark closet anymore, I still find it interesting to tune in and see what You have to say about the latest and greatest. And you always have a concise point of view, and always some valuable info or opinion to offer. That, is the one thing and sometimes the only thing a blogger should be doing, over anything else. So it’s no wonder Gray Asparagus has been such a success!!

Keep up the good work and keep the realness. Did I ever mention this to you, That’s my favorite thing about you? I always know I won’t get a diluted or sugar coated version of something in Gray Asparagus cuz you keep it real!!!

  9. Not sure how I missed this post!! I love all your posts. And I’ve been here from the very beginning!! You are a reseller mentor and I just soak up all your awesome advice! Thanks to you I hope to keep better records of my Posh business and growing my closet this year!

  10. So, I’m a latecomer to this post because I joined Poshmark only 4 months ago and just recently found your blog. I have read one or two other blogs about Poshmark success tips, but didn’t connect with the authors there as much as with you! We are both into the part-time selling on PM, minimalism in our wardrobes, and cats! I’m sure there are other things as well–I just haven’t read everything in the whole blog yet…
I am enjoying all of your musings. Thank you so much for putting your thoughts out there for us to read. Brave. (Not something we have so much in common.)
I have been madly (not angrily) working on my closet to put more details in every listing, adjust pictures, change prices, get rid of non-compliant items, etc., though not completed yet on every item. After I get through all of that, in addition to listing more in the meantime, I plan on doing the re-list (or relist lol) that you suggested to freshen things up a bit and hopefully generate new interest.
If you, or anyone else reading this, have the time or inclination, critiques on my closet would be so appreciated. Though I’m not sure how they will get to me.
    Thanks for reading.
